My practice contemplates the structures that shape our relationship with art.

Drawing from the geometry of the surrounding environment offers an opportunity to play with the harmony and balance of the space’s architecture. I build asymmetrical shaped canvases often using found materials intrigued by their previously imbued information. Shaped paintings make the edges of the canvas more prevalent bringing a sculptural aspect to the work. These edges help direct the composition of the painiting’s structure, then I search to enrich the feel of the surfaces layering opposing colours.

Central to my work is the consideration of display methods and the viewers' experience. I find that using site-specific interventions such as extruding walls, partitions and windows further activates the viewer's position in relation to Painting, and enables me to disrupt, criticise and question certain conventions.
Using photography to record the semi-curated theatricality between space, art, and people gives me reference for compositions. I reflect on a contemporary viewing experience, progressively building a nuanced point of view on the history and tradition of the white cube.

As a whole, my current body of work responds to the clinical aesthetics, curatorial techniques and recurring actors of the contemporary art world.
