Terraforming the Gallery Space n°1
2022, Oil on canvas, wood frame, photo emulsion print, mounted on plasterboard, 3 x 2 x 1m.
I feel a certain obligation to absent myself from the flatness of the plane that holds the paint. This plane which has resisted being tampered with for so long urges me to terraform it further into our space. With pushing the physical restrictions of the surface comes a more corporal and deconstructed experience to viewership. Resonating with installation but with a focus on what paint can do.
Currently, this action is filtered by a representation of anecdotal scenes of the contemporary art world. Hinting at the appearance of its functioning and its historical systems of aesthetics, the painting is narrated by the context that surrounds it completing the work’s point of view.
